Abstract:

Eleven species of Cephalops Fallen are reported from Fennoscandia and Denmark, of which three are new to the fauna of Finland: C. germanicus (Aczél), C. subultimus Collin and C. semifumosus (Kowarz), four are new to the fauna of Scandinavia; C. carinatus (Verrall), C. perspicuus (de Meijere), C. ultimus (Becker) and C. chlorionae (Frey); and three new to the fauna of Denmark; C. carinatus, C. perspicuus, and C. subultimus. The distribution in Fennoscandia is given and compared with the rest of Europe. C. braueri (Strobl) is considered to be a synonym of C. aeneus Fallén. The status of C. chlorionae in the genus is discussed and diagnostic characters are given to distinguish it from closely related species.
