Abstract:

In this 2nd part of a series on the taxonomy of the Pipunculidae of Japan, the genus Chalarus (members of which are parasitoids of Cicadellidae) is dealt with. Ten species (including 7 newly described) are dealt with and keyed. For 2 previously described species, information on known hosts in other countries is included.Abstract 2: The genus Chalarus Walker is recorded from Japan for the first time. Ten including seven new species are presented with key descriptions and illustrations of important diagnostic characters. (The new species are the following: C. flosculus, C. unilacertus, C. magnalus, C. angustifrons, C. konishii, C. rectifrons and C. kamijoi. The other species are C. spurins, C. latifrons and C. fimbriatus).
