Abstract:

The systematic position of the genera Microcephalops De Meyer 1989 and Collinias Aczel 1940 is briefly discussed. The following species are placed in new generic combination: Microcephalops adunatus (Hardy 1972) n. comb., M. angustifacies (Hardy 1949) n. comb., M. borneensis (Hardy 1972) n. comb., M. brevicornis (Loew 1858) n. comb., M. conspectus (Hardy 1949) n. comb., M. damasi (Hardy 1950) n. comb., M. dolosus (Hardy 1972) n. comb., M. exsertus (Hardy 1966) n. comb., M. fimbriatus (Hardy 1972) n. comb., M. kurseongeniensis (Kapoor, Grewal & Sharma 1987) n. comb., M. rufopictus (Hardy 1962) n. comb., M. spenceri (Hardy 1972) n. comb., M. stenopsis (Hardy 1959) n. comb., M. subaeneus (Brunetti 1923) n. comb., M. subdolosus (Kapoor, Grewal & Sharma 1987) n. comb. and Collinias leechi (Hardy 1972) n. comb. The Afrotropical representatives of Microcephalops and Collinias are revised and nine species are recognized of which three are described as new: Collinias fulvicaudus n. sp., Microcephalops montanus n. sp., and M. minisculus n. sp. All species are described and male and female terminalia illustrated. The relationship of the Afrotropical representatives and Microcephalopsini of other regions is briefly discussed.
